Justin Drew Dawson, MD - Family Practice Physician and Volunteer

After completing his family practice residency with the Area Health Education Center Northeast, Justin Drew Dawson, MD, began his career in family practice medicine in 2002. Today, Dr. Justin Drew Dawson cares for patients at Pocahontas Medical Clinic.

In addition to seeing patients at the family practice clinic, Dr. Dawson serves as a preceptor and mentor for medical students and residents. He also lends his expertise to the community. For 24 years, he has provided complimentary physical exams to athletes in the Pocahontas School District and those involved in Arkansas State University athletic programs.

During the Hurricane Katrina evacuation and disaster response in 2005, Dr. Dawson was a first responder, providing care to affected New Orleans residents. The same year, he co-founded and served as president of First Response Physicians, an organization that cared for residents a year after Hurricane Katrina.

In addition, Dr. Dawson has volunteered for international medical missions in Belize in 2007 and Colombia in 2017 and 2018. His work in Colombia involved providing care to villages along the Colombian coast and in the Amazon forest.

Dr. Dawson also speaks to local firefighters and first responders on the dangers of smoke exposure, including cancer risks. His community involvement has also included being a physician-member of Arkansas Ad Hoc Disaster Committee, and, more recently, the Randolph County Disaster Preparedness Committee.
